TUVALU

Commonly regarded as the least visited country in the world, Tuvalu is one of the last largely untouched landscapes in the world. Composed as a chain of 9 small islands, Tuvalu (formerly the Ellice Islands) is a tropical getaway conveniently situated in the Pacific Ocean, halfway between Hawaii and Australia.

With a population of around 11,000 people and a heavy reliance on subsistence farming, the country has a vibrant local community and is a perfect Tourism destination for those seeking an escape from their busy day to day lives. Funafuti, the nations capital is home to around 6,000 citizens, making up almost 60% of the countries population. All flights into the country are run through Funafuti with twice weekly flights operated by Fiji Airways from Suva, Fiji.

Due to climate change and rising sea levels, Tuvalu may soon become uninhabitable. Regularly featured in news reports overseas, Tuvalu has a highest point of just 4m above sea level, and is one of the flattest, most low lying countries in the world. Many believe the country's citizens will become the first refugees worldwide of Climate Change. Doomed with this inevitable fate, there is no better time to explore the highly relaxing, largely untouched islands that form Tuvalu.
